SEAD: Large Scale Deployment of Super-Efficient Appliances for Cooling

Join us live on 20 July for SEAD: Large Scale Deployment of Super-Efficient Appliances for Cooling taking place as part of the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation meeting (CEM14/MI-8) in Goa, India. The event will feature a roundtable discussion with government departments and experts to support countries participating in SEAD to accelerate the deployment of super-efficient appliances and equipment.

Focusing on cooling and COP 26 Product Efficiency Call to Action progress, speakers from India, the European Union and the United States will discuss effective policy measures to improve efficiency in cooling, to foster the uptake of super-efficient products and the Call to Action. Elaborating on the role of India in the Call to Action and its G20 presidency, the roundtable will pave the way to double-down on efficiency at COP 28.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Paula Pinho, Director at the Directorate-General Energy in the European Commission, and a senior official of India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency. A discussion on cooling will feature speakers from the United States, India, the European Commission, the United Kingdom and ClimateWorks. Next, the United Kingdom, the IEA and CLASP will talk about progress implementing the Product Efficiency Call to Action. Closing the event will be Vinay Chawla, Senior Advisor in the Office of Special Presidential Envoy for Climate at the US Department of State, who will speak about the path to COP 28 and upcoming events of the Clean Energy Ministerial. 

About SEAD: The SEAD (Super-Efficient Equipment and Appliances Deployment) initiative promotes the manufacture and sale of energy-efficient appliances, lighting, and equipment worldwide while fostering international collaboration to reduce energy use, bills and emissions. SEAD is a Task Group of the Hub and concurrently an initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial.
